The city of Patra, which is the capital of Achaia prefecture, and port, is a transportation, commercial and tourist center of Peloponnese and at the same time the third largest city of Greece.

Mycenae

Mycenae, the legendary home of the Atreides. The bare hill with the remains of Mycenae, the mighty citadel of Agamemnon, rises only 4 km off the main road which leads from Corinth to Argos. Mycenae was a royal residence, surrounded by huge Cyclopean walls.

Pyrgos - Olympia

Pyrgos is a colorful agriclutural and trading town, the capital of the Province of Eleia. From Pirgos the road forks eastwards through the fertile valley of Elis, one of the ancient city-states of Peloponnese. In the middle of thiw walley where the rivers Alphios and Kladeos flow, lies Olympia.

The Olympic Games were held here in honour of the Olympian Zeus every four years from prehistoric times. The Olympiads included not only athletic contests, but also reciting of verse, reading debates on philosophical and other topics and from 67 A.D. poetics, musical and dramatic competitions.
